Former Katima Mulilo Town Council Employee Charged with Corruption

Katima Mulilo: A former Katima Mulilo Town Council employee appeared before the Katima Mulilo District Court on Wednesday, facing multiple charges of corruption.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Namasiku Kasika was arrested Tuesday night by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and charged with contravention of several sections of the ACC Act 8 of 2003 as well as the Prevention of Organised Crime Act, 2004. It is alleged that Kasika used her position at the time of her employment with the town council to obtain gratification after she received a payment of N.dollars 750, altered the recorded amount on the system, and kept part of the funds for herself three years ago.



Kasika has been granted bail of N.dollars 8 000 and her case was postponed to 30 July 2025 for legal representation. Magistrate Beatrice Sinyama Sibalatani presided while Sylvious Malange prosecuted.



In a brief statement issued on Tuesday, Josefina Nghituwamata, ACC Chief Public Relations Officer, said: ‘The ACC remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability in all institutions in Namibia, urging the members of the public to continue supporting the commission’s efforts to root out corruption at all levels.’
