Katima mulilo: Former Katima Mulilo Town Council (KMTC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Charles Nawa Nawa, was laid to rest on Friday at his maternal home village of Luhonono (Schuckmannsburg) in Kabbe North Constituency of the Zambezi region. Nawa passed away last week Friday in a Windhoek hospital at the age of 57.
According to Namibia Press Agency, during the memorial service held at the Ngweze community hall on Thursday, Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, praised Nawa for his wisdom and described him as a man of many talents. Sankwasa, attending in his private capacity as family, lauded Nawa's critical approach to life and his ability to provide answers to societal questions.
Retired diplomat Benjamin Mabuku also paid tribute, remembering Nawa as a genius nephew who continued his good deeds for society even after retirement. Mabuku emphasized the large turnout at the farewell as a testament to Nawa's impact on the community.
Nawa served as the CEO of the KMTC from 2012 to 2016. He is survived by his wife, Inonge Sikanda-Nawa, eight children, and one grandchild.
