Nyamira: Kenya’s former Chief Justice David Maraga has affirmed that he will fulfill the Generation Z’s request of vying for presidency in 2027.
According to Kenya News Agency, Maraga stated that youths have pressured him to vie for the country’s top seat because he possesses leadership qualities backed by his past performance record. He made this affirmation during his first consultative meeting in Nyamira, seeking approval from opinion leaders and political echelons who have promised to support his political ambition.
Maraga emphasized the importance of county hall consultation meetings, stating that they would be conducted across all 47 counties. He announced plans to establish functional structures to meet the requirements for running for political office. He also mentioned that a team of professionals is working on creating and naming a political party, with plans for a grand launch of his political manifesto.
Addressing current national issues, Maraga cited the inability of current leadership to tackle corruption as a root cause of Kenya’s economic crisis. He also pointed to the lack of respect for the rule of law and inadequate healthcare as significant challenges facing the country.
Maraga called for prayers, goodwill, and genuine support, stating that Kenya needs an honest, just, and fearless leader to overcome its current crisis. He urged residents to respect all political aspirants and emphasized the importance of peaceful political forums.
Additionally, Maraga appealed to the youth to apply for national ID cards and register as voters when the time comes, enabling them to make an informed political decision in the 2027 elections.
