Former Benin Presidents Seek to Mend Ties with Niger


Niamey – In an effort to address the escalating border crisis, former Presidents Nicephore Soglo and Yayi Boni of Benin arrived in Niamey, Niger, for talks with Nigerien officials on Monday. The visit is aimed at discussing the recent tensions that have arisen due to the border closure between the two countries.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the former leaders were received by Brigadier General Mohamed Toumba, the Nigerien Minister of State, Interior, Public Security, and Territorial Administration, at Diori Hamani international airport. The discussions are part of broader efforts to enhance dialogue and resolve misunderstandings between Benin and Niger, highlighting the role of former leaders in diplomatic interventions.
