Foreigner Arrested With AK 47

Police in Iten have arrested two people, one of them a foreigner from New Zealand and recovered an AK 47 and 23 rounds of ammunition from a house they were staying in.

Keiyo North police boss Tom Makori said the police searched the house and found documents suggesting that the foreigner, whom they didn’t name, is an athletic coach but they have yet to get his profile and the races he participates in.

The police boss said the two suspects plus others had hosted a birthday party but after the party, one of those who had been invited was forced to engage in sexual activities.

However, Makori said she managed to run away and report the matter at the Iten police station. Police responded immediately and went to the house but couldn’t gain access after the occupants refused to open.

‘The house was placed under police surveillance until morning, when officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) managed to enter,’ said the OCPD, who was accompanied by the Keiyo North sub-county security team.

He said it was during their search that they found the illegal firearm and the 23 rounds of ammunition, which he described as brand new.

Makori said they arrested the Kenyan and the foreigner from New Zealand but four other occupants they found in that house managed to escape but they said they would apprehend them soon.

The OCPD said they also have information that there are other illegal activities that go on in the house, including the smoking of shisha, which he said they will continue to monitor and arrest those involved.

‘While we have no problem with those conducting legal businesses, we will not rest until we apprehend those engaging in illegal activities like smoking shisha, as we don’t want our youth to get hooked on such drugs,’ he said.

He regretted that foreigners had penetrated the area and even intermarried with the locals and called on locals to report any suspicious incidents to the police.

He said police were still conducting investigations and once they were complete, the two would be taken to court and charged with sexual offences and illegal possession of a firearm.
