Foreign Minister Joins Regional Summit to Fortify West African Security

Accra: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba, joined Defense and Intelligence leaders from across West Africa in Accra this January. Their urgent mission aims to overhauling a strained regional security architecture. Rising instability makes this high-level conference essential.

According to Sierra Leone News Agency, Minister Kabba, reflecting on Sierra Leone's turbulent past, framed the challenge on his official social media. Prolonged regional silence on spreading insecurity, he argued, demanded this recommitment. The goal must move beyond reactive measures. 'We must rebuild collaboration, enhance resilience, restore confidence,' he stated. Success requires tackling structural roots of conflict, not applying episodic diplomacy as a temporary cure.

'Sierra Leone knows from our own journey,' Kabba underlined. 'Peace and security cannot be imposed through force alone. They must be cultivated through inclusion, trust, and opportunity. Security must be paired with legitimacy.'

The deliberations have produced a concrete outcome document and draft communique. These await final approval and adoption by the region's Heads of State at a decisive summit scheduled for January 29, 2026.
