Football Icons Nani and Kanu Commit to Supporting Youth Talent in Ethiopia


Addis Ababa – International football stars Luis Nani and Nwankwo Kanu have pledged their support to develop young football talent in Ethiopia during their visit to Addis Ababa.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, both Nani, the former Manchester United winger and Portuguese national team star, and Nigerian football icon Kanu, arrived early this morning. They were welcomed by notable figures including the State Minister of Tourism, Sileshi Girma, and several other local sports dignitaries. The visit is part of the 80th-anniversary celebrations of Mechal Sports Club, where they are honored guests.



During interactions with the press, Nani shared his excitement about the visit, emphasizing the importance of youth development in African football. “For me, being here is all about understanding more and providing support in Africa for the development of football culture and academies,” Nani stated. He expressed a keen interest in supporting aspiring young players by sharing his experiences and knowledge to help nurture Ethiopia’s next generation of soccer stars.



Similarly, Kanu, a former Arsenal striker, highlighted the necessity of creating a supportive environment for young African footballers.
