Hound©: The governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konat©/Gnanou, visited Hound© to express compassion and support to families affected by the floods on June 23, 2026. As president of the Regional Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CORESUR), she extended condolences and solidarity on behalf of the government to those impacted by the disaster.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor was joined by regional and provincial administrative and military authorities during her visit to sectors 1 and 4 of Hound©. The delegation conveyed the government's condolences and showed solidarity with families who lost loved ones and those whose homes and property were damaged.
Governor Konat© emphasized the importance of expressing support due to the heavy rainfall that caused significant flooding, loss of life, and property damage. She also raised awareness about the necessary precautions to take during the rainy season to protect lives. In collaboration with Mamadou Go, commander of the 2nd Fire and Rescue Group, the governor urged residents to stay in secure shelters during rains and avoid risky areas.
The visit concluded with a donation at Hound© Town Hall to aid affected families. The donation included two tons of rice, two tons of corn, 100 sleeping mats, mosquito nets, and other essential items. Governor Konat© stated the donation aims to provide immediate relief while awaiting further support from the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR).
The affected families appreciated the delegation's solidarity and committed to adhering to safety guidelines to prevent future incidents. The floods on June 23, 2026, resulted in loss of life and extensive damage, prompting the need for ongoing support and preventive measures.
