Five suspects appear before court for alleged theft, stolen property recovered

Police, together with members of Sedibeng Village, working together to fight property-related crimes seized property with an estimated value of R60 000 from seven houses and nabbed five suspects.

On Wednesday, 04 October 2023 at about 11:00, the concerned community of Sedibeng Village at Tseseng-Qwaqwa approached the police station together with one of the suspects, believed to be behind the theft crimes. At first the suspect denied his involvement however, upon further interrogation before the police and community, he went to his friend’s house, where two computer monitor screens, keyboard and a mouse were seized. The team proceeded to five other homes where suspected stolen property were stored. A total of two laptops, four monitor screens, four computer keyboards, five mouses, four Central Processing Units, electric boxes, switch boards, two bicycles, two bicycle wheels, grass cutters, three brooms, 49 plastic plates used for feeding learners at school, stationery of learners including pencils and rubb
ers, etc. Police also recovered a crow bar, an axe, heaters, a special revolver toy gun and hard drives. A number of stolen old and new computers are believed to be taken from a local intermediate School whilst other items are believed to have been stolen from the local community in the village.

The five suspects were charged with possession of suspected stolen properties and their case has been postponed until 26 October 2023 for further investigations and bail application. The school had already opened a case previously of burglary early this year. All the stolen properties have been seized.

The police request that all members of the community who might have opened cases of housebreaking and theft to approach the station in order to positively identify the properties.
