Tarn Taran: Five members of a family, including a couple and their three children, were tragically killed Saturday after the roof of their house collapsed in the northern Indian state of Punjab, police reported. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 4:30 a.m. local time, in the village of Pandori Gola, located in the Tarn Taran district, approximately 28 kilometers south of Amritsar, a prominent Sikh holy city in Punjab.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the family members were asleep when the roof of their old and dilapidated house gave way, trapping them under the debris. Local villagers immediately launched a rescue operation and managed to pull the family from the wreckage. Despite their efforts, all five were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, as confirmed by a police official.
The police have indicated that the condition of the house was significantly compromised, which likely contributed to the collapse. In response to this tragic event, authorities have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse and to ascertain whether any negligence was involved.
