First National Flag-Raising Ceremony of 2026 Advocates for Unity and Peace in Djelgodji

Ouagadougou: The first raising of the colours of 2026 placed under the sign of peace and cohesion. The leading figures of Djelgodji province gathered this Monday, January 5, 2026, in the courtyard of the High Commission, for the first national flag-raising ceremony of the year. The ceremony was presided over by the province's High Commissioner, Mr. Wend Nr Wilfried TOUGMA, who dedicated the gathering to unity, prayer, and patriotic commitment. According to Burkina Information Agency, in a warm address punctuated with greetings and blessings in Fulfulde, Mr. Tougma extended his wishes for health, peace, and prosperity to all participants. He offered prayers for a united, peaceful Burkina Faso, resolutely focused on progress, while also calling for the elimination of divisions, slander, and all forms of discord within communities. 'Peace is not a word, it is a behavior,' he affirmed, urging every citizen to take concrete actions to promote social cohesion. The High Commissioner also commended the efforts of v arious stakeholders (administration, security forces, partners, and citizens) for their contribution to the province's development over the past year. The ceremony ended in a friendly and committed atmosphere, with a strong call to make 2026 the year of the definitive return of stability to the province of Djelgodji and beyond.
