First Edition of “Solidarity Cinema” Festival Launches to Promote Peace and Resilience

Djoro: The first edition of the "Solidarity Cinema" Festival kicks off, aiming to promote peace and resilience. The "Solidarity Cinema" Festival officially kicked off Thursday evening in the Poni cinema hall with the technical advisor for culture, representing the governor of the Djoro region, Yacouba Lengani.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this first edition, placed under the theme "Cinema, peace and resilience", brought together administrative authorities, cultural actors, and film enthusiasts around the inaugural film "YIKIYAN". Mr. Lengani praised the initiative led by the Association for the Promotion of Cinema (APCine), emphasizing that it represents a new impetus for the 7th art in the Djoro region. "This is a first edition and we are convinced that this festival will contribute to revitalizing cinema attendance," he declared.

According to the technical advisor, the theme is very timely as it carries a strong message of peace and social cohesion for the benefit of the sons and daughters of the region and Burkina Faso. Albertine Da, president of APCine, stated that the event aims to revitalize the Gaoua cinema, which has been inactive for a long time, while also showcasing national productions.

"We organized this festival to rekindle the public's interest in cinema. We hope that the screenings will attract more and more film enthusiasts throughout the festival," she stated. She called on the people of Gaoua to come out in large numbers to support the planned activities, and assured them that the screenings would continue even after the festival in order to maintain the momentum.
