Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe Minister in charge of Communication, Pingdwend Gilbert Oudraogo, installed on Monday the very first Board of Directors of the radio station "Daand¨ Liptako" of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), composed of nine members to strengthen the governance and operational deployment of the Sahelian community media.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Board of Directors, chaired by Malian expert Mossoukoura Konat, includes three representatives from each state, representing the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Communication. Directors serve three-year terms, renewable once. This strategic installation is aimed at reinforcing the informational and media sovereignty of the AES member states, namely Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

Pingdwend Gilbert Oudraogo emphasized that "Daand¨ Liptako" is positioned as a media outlet committed to truth, objectivity, and loyalty, countering the media aggression and manipulation faced by the region. He urged the board members to approach their roles with consensus, responsibility, and patriotic commitment to ensure the effective deployment of the community communication tool.

Mossoukoura Konat, the Board Chair, stated that the focus will be on mobilizing financial resources, fostering institutional and diplomatic cooperation, and creating quality content to engage the populations around the Confederation's ideals. The board will begin its work immediately with an extraordinary session to review and adopt fundamental texts for the radio's operation.

"Daand¨ Liptako" was officially established on November 26, 2025, and launched on December 17 of the same year. It currently broadcasts in Ouagadougou on 94.0 FM and in Niamey on 96.2 FM, with plans to expand throughout Mali. The radio station is also accessible via streaming and a mobile app, aiming to reach the AES region and diaspora worldwide from its headquarters in Ouagadougou.
