FILDA Demonstrates Angola’s Production Capacity at 41st Angola International Fair

Luanda: The Angola International Fair (FILDA) can support the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by promoting intra-African trade, the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA, Wamkele Mene, said on Tuesday. Speaking to the press during the 41st edition of FILDA, he noted that the fair clearly demonstrates Angola's significant local production capacity and high level of local content.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Wamkele Mene acknowledged the existence of various sectors capable of supporting national production, indicating that the country is well-positioned to export, thereby contributing to job creation and economic growth. Regarding the agricultural sector, he highlighted the significant production potential, which can contribute to food security both within Angola and across the continent.

The AfCFTA Secretary-General gave a positive assessment of FILDA, describing it as a high-caliber fair that meets international quality standards. "The exhibitions are very well organized, and the products and services on display demonstrate a high degree of development and professionalism," he noted. Wamkele Mene highlighted the participation of companies from Angola and various foreign countries, reinforcing FILDA's international character.

According to the official, this diversity showcases the productive capacity existing across different economic sectors and creates excellent opportunities for investment, partnerships, and business growth. It was further noted that FILDA serves as a key driver of Angola's economic development, fueled by the participation of exhibitors, companies, and investors.

The organizers report that the industrial sector leads participation in the Angola International Fair, accounting for 34% of exhibitors across the food and beverage, manufacturing, and extractive industries, as well as other activities. Agriculture and fisheries represent 13% of participants, underscoring the sector's strategic role in economic diversification and the strengthening of food security.

Meanwhile, trade and distribution account for 12%, contributing to the strengthening of the domestic market and the increased circulation of goods. The services sector represents 11% of participants, playing a pivotal role in fostering competitiveness, innovation, and the modernization of the national economy.
