Fight Against Terrorism: President Traor© Reaffirms the Burkinabe People’s Determination to Overcome It on Their Own

Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, reaffirmed on Wednesday the determination of the Burkinabe people to defeat terrorism by themselves, again declining offers to deploy foreign troops.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on the occasion of the first year of the proclamation of the progressive and popular revolution, Captain Ibrahim Traor© called on his compatriots to “make the revolution” in all sectors of Burkina Faso. The Head of State praised the patriotism of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) engaged in the fight against terrorism.

President Traor© mentioned that several armies had approached him with offers to assist in the fight against terrorism. However, he emphasized that due to the intrinsic values of the Burkinabe people, they had declined these offers, choosing to fight independently. He thanked the partners who had expressed their support, while highlighting the progress being made by local forces.

The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces noted that the fighting forces are gradually retaking territories and establishing control at the borders, areas previously dominated by terrorists. Captain Traor© warned armed groups to lay down their arms or leave the territory, asserting that they would face confrontation if they remained.

In addition to military efforts, President Traor© urged the entire administration and citizens to adopt a “revolutionary” spirit, encouraging innovation in daily practices. Since coming to power in September 2022, Captain Traor© has prioritized the fight against terrorism, defense of national sovereignty, and promotion of sustainable development as key elements of his governance.
