The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE granted an audience to a delegation from the National Anti-Corruption Network (REN-LAC), led by its Executive Secretary Sagado NACANABO. The Head of State invited the REN-LAC to act.
“The Head of State gave us information that we were waiting for so that we could also take action. We have the possibility of going to court if we have information,” declared the Executive Secretary after the hearing.
The fight against corruption can impact the fight against terrorism and according to Sagado NACANABO, the REN-LAC has already sent a memorandum with proposals to fight corruption. “If we want to succeed in the fight against terrorism, we must fight against corruption,” he said.
He also specified that in this fight against corruption, the authorities must set an example and invite others to follow. And on this basis, the corrupters, in a first phase will be made aware and if they persist, the phase of repression will follow.
“Corruption can only be redressed through repression. And if people have stolen property, they must be recovered in full and punished instead of just sending them to prison to spend some time and come out to enjoy their billions quietly,” he concluded
