Zurich—The FIFA Council convened in Zurich on Thursday to finalize several significant decisions affecting the global football landscape, including the establishment of voting procedures for the 2030 and 2034 World Cup tournaments.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the council has determined that if each upcoming World Cup bidding process attracts only a single candidate, the hosts for both the 2030 and 2034 competitions will be selected simultaneously. This decision will be executed at an extraordinary FIFA Congress scheduled to occur virtually on December 11, 2024. Additionally, FIFA introduced its Women’s Football Strategy for 2024-2027, aiming to align with FIFA’s Strategic Objectives for the Global Game for 2023-2027 and to devise specific tactics and game plans tailored to women’s football.
The council also unanimously approved the regulations for the 2025 Club World Cup, allowing FIFA Member Associations to open an exceptional registration window from June 1-10, 2025. Moreover, it was announced that the 75th FIFA Congress is set to take place in Asuncion, Paraguay, on May 15, 2025.
