FESPACO Bobo 2025 Celebrates Burkinabe Film Technicians

Bobo-Dioulasso: The 5th edition of Bobo-Dioulasso Film Week (SCIBO) provided a platform to honor local film and television technicians with a night dedicated to recognizing their contributions. The event aims to highlight the work of individuals behind the scenes, promoting Burkinabe cinema both nationally and internationally.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Jean No«l Bonkoungou, representing the Minister of Culture, emphasized the importance of rewarding technicians in the sector. He noted that by acknowledging their expertise, SCIBO encourages innovation and contributes to the emergence of new talent, playing a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage.



During the event, several categories of awards were presented to technicians. In the first category, nine winners from various cinema professions, including image, sound, decor, and machinery, received encouragement trophies. The second category recognized participants from neighboring countries such as Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Ivory Coast with encouragement trophies. In the third category, four individuals were awarded trophies of honor, including an honorary trophy for the late technician Pierre Rouamba.



The 5th edition also paid tribute to deceased technicians, awarding certificates of tribute posthumously. The Excellence Trophy was awarded to director Emmanuel Sanou, who previously served as president of the National Union of Filmmakers of Burkina Faso.
