Ouagadougou: The organizing committee of the 29th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) officially unveiled the visual for the upcoming biennial. Scheduled to take place from February 22 to March 1, 2025, the visual was presented on Tuesday, offering a glimpse into the cultural richness that the festival aims to celebrate.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the visual, designed by Gidéon Vink, features “a proud, uninhibited African woman” adorned with a mosaic of African fabrics. This design is intended to reflect the notion of cultural identities across the continent. Vink explained that just like cinema, dance, or theatre, the diverse colors and patterns of the fabrics symbolize the cultural wealth of Africa, highlighting specific elements like “Koko donda” from Burkina Faso and “the beautiful gala” from Mali.

Vink further elaborated that the woman portrayed, hidden behind the FESPACO wall, represents the essence of cinema-a blend of the visible and invisib
le. The visual aims to encapsulate the spirit of the festival, which is recognized for showcasing the depth and diversity of African cinema.
