Marsabit: Grief has engulfed Badassa village in Marsabit Central Sub-County in Marsabit County after a man stabbed his expectant wife to death on Monday night over allegations of infidelity.

According to Kenya News Agency, area Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), David Saruni, confirmed that the deceased died of excessive bleeding after she was stabbed on her thighs. Saruni termed the incident as unfortunate, having occurred at a time when the government has put in place a number of measures to stem the menace in the country.

The suspect, identified as Halakhe Dida Dulacha and aged 32 years, has since been arrested following prompt action by the police. Locals told the authorities that the suspect has been having conflicts with his wife, whom he regularly accused of extra-marital affairs.

The administrator added that the deceased, aged 27 and a mother of four, was also pregnant when she died. Saruni stated that the government was determined to bring an end to femicide and gender-based violence and warned citizens against taking the law into their own hands.

He advised couples to always seek help from counsellors while cases that border on the rule of law should be reported for action.
