FC Salam Triumphs in Inaugural Renaissance Association Tournament

Ouagadougou: FC Salam clinched the trophy in the first edition of the Renaissance Association tournament by defeating Union Sportive Renaissance (USR) 1-0 in the final match held on Sunday. The tournament, known as "Renaissance," was organized by the Renaissance Association to unite the youth of the 3rd arrondissement of Ouagadougou through sport, peace, solidarity, and communal living. According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament commenced on June 28 and featured 16 teams from the 3rd district of the capital, all competing to uphold the values of peace, solidarity, and communal living. The victorious FC Salam team not only received the trophy but also took home a ball, a set of jerseys, and 150,000 FCFA. The runner-up, USR, was awarded medals, a ball, and 100,000 FCFA. Furthermore, accolades for the best player and the best goalkeeper were presented during the tournament. Noufou Ouedraogo, president of the Renaissance Association, stated that the maracana tournament was designed to provide a con structive environment for young people to flourish during the holidays. "The idea behind this first edition is unity. For us, rebirth means reconnecting with young people and giving them back the values we believe we have lost," he remarked. He also expressed contentment with the smooth execution of the event, noting the absence of major incidents or injuries throughout the competition. Mr. Ouedraogo voiced his aspirations for future editions to garner even more enthusiasm. Ismaël Ouedraogo, the competition's sponsor, shared that his involvement was driven by a desire to support an initiative that promotes healthy activities for young people during the holidays. "The young people took the initiative to organize a sporting activity together. We felt it was important to support them in order to keep them healthily occupied during this period," he stated, committing to support future editions as long as the spirit of cohesion remains strong. From the winning camp, the tournament's best player credited FC Salam 's triumph to the team's determination. "It's a joy to win this first edition. This award belongs to the whole team. The difference was made by our desire to win and to score," he commented. The organizers have expressed their intention to establish this competition as a regular event, transforming it into an annual sports gathering that fosters social cohesion in the 3rd district of Ouagadougou.
