SCHLIP – A tragic incident at farm Mooi Rivier in the Hardap Region led to the death of 52-year-old Wilfred Elmer Izaks on Friday. Namibian Police Force (NamPol) officials reported that Izaks was fatally stabbed during an altercation with a male suspect.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the NamPol weekend crime report revealed the altercation occurred between 14h00 and 15h00 on Friday. Eyewitnesses allege the suspect attacked Izaks, stabbing him in the right side of the chest and chin. The victim died immediately at the scene. Police are actively searching for the suspect, who fled with the murder weapon. This case, among several others reported over the weekend, underscores a violent period across several regions.
In a separate incident in Windhoek, police are investigating a culpable homicide case after 34-year-old Jacques Roberto Kurz was killed in a vehicular accident. The crash occurred around 01h33 on Mandume Ndemufayo road. Reports indicate that Kurz and his girlfriend were returning home when he unexpectedly engaged the handbrake, causing the driver to lose control and collide with a tree. Kurz died on the spot, while the driver sustained minor injuries.
Additionally, several suicide cases were reported. In Otjozondjupa Region, 32-year-old Angolan national Tuhafeni Shindele was found deceased, having hanged himself at the Okondjatu settlement. In the Oshikoto Region, two similar incidents occurred: 50-year-old Paulus Phillipus Hamatundu and 36-year-old Leopald Shidhika both died by hanging, with their bodies discovered in King Kauluma village and Okavugu village respectively. No suicide notes were left in any of these cases.
The series of tragic events has left communities in mourning, with ongoing police investigations into each case.
