MOSES MABIDA, Kirkwood – A 40-year-old Zimbabwean man met a tragic end this afternoon after he accidentally shot himself with an illegal firearm in the Moses Mabida area of Kirkwood.

According to South African Police Service, Police received information about a shooting incident around 13:45 in the Msengeni area of Moses Mabida, according to the police report. Upon their arrival, they learned that the man had already been transported to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries en route. The incident reportedly occurred due to the accidental discharge of the firearm, resulting in a fatal wound to the man’s abdomen.

Further investigation at the scene revealed that the firearm involved had its serial number filed off. The police have since confiscated the weapon. An inquest has been opened to conduct a more thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
