OTJIWARONGO — A tragic accident occurred on Saturday in Otjiwarongo when a 59-year-old man died instantly after reportedly falling from a 15-metre high water tank during maintenance work. This incident has sparked a police investigation to determine the exact cause of the fall.
According to Namibia Press Agency, head of community affairs for the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, the accident took place at around 13:00 near Karundu Primary School in the Orwetoveni residential area. The deceased was performing routine maintenance on a Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) tank when his safety belt allegedly became loose, leading to his fatal fall. A 37-year-old colleague who was also on the tank was rescued safely and has been treated at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
The ongoing police investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure such accidents are prevented in the future.
