Ouagadougou: The edges of several streets in Ouagadougou are being paved thanks to community solidarity through the presidential initiative "Faso Mªbo," launched by President Captain Ibrahim Traor©. This ambitious program aims to modernize road infrastructure and improve the living environment of residents, relying on citizen mobilization and the use of local resources.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on Friday, May 2, 2025, a delegation of officials from Faso Mªbo traveled through several streets of Ouagadougou to monitor the progress of the paving work. Everywhere, community engagement is palpable. "Whether it's the poles, the cement, or the water containers, all the materials you see there... These are contributions of goodwill," explains Faso Mªbo's national coordinator, Commander Ahmed Zoodnoma Sakand©.

He emphasizes that the workforce is primarily composed of volunteers and community workers. "No contract has been awarded to a private company: the paving stones are manufactured and laid locally, thanks to the ingenuity and solidarity of the local population," explains the coordinator. The initiative is not limited to paving; it also aims to build decent housing, improve sanitation, and create green spaces. Among Faso Mªbo's flagship projects is the construction of the "Burkindi Business Center," a symbol of urban modernization in Ouagadougou.

Residents are encouraged to participate, whether through donations of materials or by their presence on construction sites. "If we pass by your house, it would be interesting if you could perhaps give a sand trip," says Commander Sakand©, illustrating the participatory spirit that drives Faso Mªbo.

Thanks to this collective momentum, Ouagadougou is gradually acquiring paved streets that are more accessible and resilient, even during the rainy season. The Faso Mªbo initiative is thus establishing itself as a model of endogenous and inclusive development for all of Burkina Faso.
