Sourou: Burkina Faso Radio and Television (RTB) launched the 2026 season of its talent detection and promotion program for young musical talents, "Faso Academy," on Friday. This year's season is marked by an increase in prizes in order to enhance the attractiveness of the competition. According to Burkina Information Agency, RTB Director General Atérida Galip Somé expressed satisfaction with the 2025 results, which exceeded expectations with strong mobilization across the entire territory and quality performances. He announced that the prizes for this edition have been increased to enhance the competition's attractiveness. For the director general of RTB, the relaunch of the show last year was a challenge, given the questions related to the mobilization of resources, candidates, and the public. Faso Academy is "a beacon for talent" and a platform for the expression of future voices of Burkinabe music, said the representative of the Minister in charge of Culture, Brice Flavien Ouédraogo. According to Mr. Ou édraogo, the success of the relaunch of the program in 2025 led the Department of Culture to encourage RTB to continue the initiative to offer young people a healthy framework for expression and occupation during the holidays. He praised the RTB officials, technical teams, partners, and cultural actors for their commitment to the organization of this edition, which he placed within the dynamic of promoting national cultural values and the development of youth. The sponsor of the 2026 edition, the president and CEO of BOPA International, Seydou Boro, through his representative, reaffirmed his commitment to the promotion of youth and culture. He urged the candidates to demonstrate discipline, perseverance, and determination, believing that investing in culture and youth is an investment in the future of Burkina Faso. Organised by RTB, Faso Academy brings together young artists from different regions of Burkina Faso each year for a competition aimed at revealing the future talents of national music.
