Keiyo South, Kenya – Relatives of the late Managing Director of Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA), Silvanos Tubei, are urging the government to take action against those responsible for his murder. This plea comes as the remains suspected to be Tubei’s were exhumed on Thursday at his home in Chepkumum, Keiyo South Sub-county.
According to Kenya News Agency, The remains, discovered at Tubei’s residence on December 31 last year, were exhumed from a shallow grave beside his house. They had been lying there for the past 12 years, following an order from the Iten law courts. Alexander Tubei, brother of the deceased, led the family’s call for justice. He recounted the events following Tubei’s disappearance, noting that the family gathered at his home five days after he was reported missing and conducted a search without success.
Alexander Tubei mentioned that three weeks after the disappearance, they became aware that the deceased’s wife had invited unknown individuals to their home. The family suspects these individuals, in collusion with the wife, were involved in Tubei’s murder. The relatives are confident that the exhumed remains are those of their kin, asserting that he never left the home.
The family is insisting on the government’s intervention to ensure that the suspects are apprehended, as they await DNA test results to confirm the identity of the remains. Keiyo South’s Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD), Abdullahi Dahir, has called for calm among the relatives and assured them that the government is committed to arresting and prosecuting the culprits. He noted that while there is currently no proof that the remains are Tubei’s, necessary investigations are underway, and the family will be updated once the process is finalized.
OCPD Dahir also urged the family to cooperate and provide all necessary information to assist in the police investigation.
