Fada n'gourma: The President of the special delegation of the commune of Fada N'Gourma, Kampadiba J©r´me Idani, called on the population to fulfill their tax obligations to enable the commune to secure necessary resources for development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the appeal was part of the municipal initiative "Tax Exemplarity 2026," aimed at increasing tax compliance. Mr. Idani emphasized the importance of financial sovereignty and the capacity to act, stating, "When you have the resources, you have financial sovereignty and the capacity to act."
Since 2023, several measures have been implemented to boost tax compliance within the administration. Mr. Idani highlighted that salary disbursements are now contingent upon presenting receipts for residence tax payments, a critical revenue source for the municipality.
The President argued that the administration must set an example to motivate the population to pay taxes. This requirement has also been applied to issuing various administrative acts at municipal and prefecture levels.
Mr. Idani reported that a significant portion of staff in education and health sectors have been contributing as taxpayers since 2023, thanks to these initiatives. He identified that financial shortfalls partly contribute to challenges in roads, public lighting, and infrastructure.
He asserted, "If we have substantial resources, all these difficulties will improve." The investments already made in the municipality were attributed to effective financial mobilization.
Mr. Idani reiterated that there is no alternative revenue source beyond citizens' contributions and urged all Fada N'Gourma residents to fulfill their tax responsibilities to support ongoing development efforts for the community's benefit.
