Huambo: The Production, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI) has made available, from 2022 to the present date, more than 10 billion Kwanzas in the financing of 125 projects and 30 agricultural cooperatives in Huambo. This was disclosed Thursday by the director of the local office of Economic and Integrated Development, S©rgio Likutu, in the 'Grande Entrevista' segment of the Huambo provincial station of the National Radio of Angola Group (RNA).

According to Angola Press News Agency, these are the financial lines of economic relief from the Angolan government part of the Notice 10/2022 of the National Bank of Angola (BNA) and the restructured Credit Support Project (PAC), included in PRODESI. Likutu stated that the funds were made available to companies, mainly for the development of agricultural production activities, although there are still some difficulties at the time of repayment of the financed amount.

The official lamented the bureaucracy and lethargy of the process in some commercial banks, a fact that creates difficulties for entrepreneurs to access credit. Without presenting statistical data, he mentioned that there were other funded projects within the scope of the Commercial Agriculture Support Project (PDAC) and the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA).

Sergio Likutu indicated that the province may have its first avocado oil processing plant, installed in the industrial park in Ca¡la, with a capacity to process 350 tons per day. He said that the office oversees 305 licensed industrial units, mainly bakeries, mills, beverage and soft drink factories.
