Explosion at Samangan Coal Mine Claims Seven Lives, Injures Two

Samangan: An explosion ripped through a coal mine in northern Afghanistan's Samangan province, killing at least seven workers and injuring two others, a local police official reported.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the blast was triggered by a buildup of methane gas at one of the collieries in the Dara-i-Sufi Payen district. Hashmatullah Rahmani, the provincial police spokesman, confirmed that the explosion resulted in the immediate death of seven miners and left two others injured.

The bodies of the trapped workers were recovered by security personnel and medical teams, who have since handed them over to the victims' families. The injured miners have been transported to a nearby health center for treatment, Rahmani stated.
