Windhoek: The 12th Mining Expo and Conference is taking place in Windhoek, with a variety of exhibitors from sectors including mining equipment and services, logistics and transport, and financial services. The annual event organized by the Chamber of Mines of Namibia brings together the entire mining sector, including professionals, exhibitors, government officials, and the public, to showcase the latest innovations and discuss the future of the industry.
According to Namibia Press Agency, this year's Mining Expo and Conference started Tuesday and ends Thursday. One of the participants is the Namibia Diamond Trading Company, with NDTC Corporate Affairs Manager Helena Mootseng stating the event offers valuable exposure to participating companies. 'The Mining Expo is a huge platform where we are able to share what NDTC does as an organization, but more importantly, what the diamond industry means to Namibia,' Mootseng said. She added that she is especially excited to see students attending, as NDTC is able to share various opportunities with them.
Swakop Uranium's Senior Radiation Officer, Efraim Ihemba, also underscored the importance of the event, describing it as a valuable platform for educating the public about mining. 'It's a learning experience for many people to understand what happens in the mining industry. The expo is an opportunity to show what the sector offers,' he explained. Ihemba noted that the company is seeing an increase in students interested in learning about safety in the mining environment.
The Namibian Ports Authority's Executive: Commercial Services, Elias Mwenyo, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout. 'The turnout is quite overwhelming, this is more than we expected. Compared to the past three years, this year's attendance is one of the best. It's a clear indication that mining activities in Namibia are booming,' Mwenyo said.
