Rundu: A former chief regional officer (CRO) of the Kavango East Regional Council and two government officials appeared in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing charges of abusing their positions for personal gain. They are Ludwig Thikusho (63), who served as the first CRO from 2016 until 2022, Jonas Nghidileko (46), who is employed as chief works inspector in the Ministry of Works and Transport, and Martin Sapumba, who is the chief works inspector in the Directorate of Education.
According to Namibia Press Agency, they appeared before Magistrate George Matsuib, who granted them bail of N.dollars 10 000 each. The case was postponed to 04 December 2025. The trio was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday.
The charge sheet states that between July 2021 and September 2021, they allegedly corruptly used their offices or positions to award a tender in the amount of N.dollars 82 610 to a company called Stewe Investment CC without following correct procurement procedures. All three accused were represented by Rundu-based lawyer Bernhard Tjatjara, with prosecutor Soraya Petrus representing the state.
