European Union Advocates Strengthened Multilateralism with Africa

Luanda: The Director of the European Commission's External Action Service for Africa, Patricia Cussac, emphasized the alignment of principles between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) in upholding United Nations values, underscoring the importance of multilateralism, cooperation, and collaboration. This statement was made following the Preparatory Meeting of Senior Officials, an event leading up to the 7th African Union-European Union Summit.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Patricia Cussac noted that the European Union currently faces a period of uncertainty due to the resurgence of conflicts. She reiterated the EU's commitment to fostering joint economic growth, highlighting that European investors aim to establish long-term partnerships, develop value chains, and create jobs, particularly for the youth.

Cussac further stressed the necessity of addressing issues such as criminal networks, advocating for regular migration, and safeguarding lives. She proposed that the joint management of these challenges should be prioritized on the multilateral agenda. The recommendations from the meeting are set to be presented to the Heads of State and Government attending the 7th AU/EU Summit in Luanda.
