The trade of Ethiopian products through these ports is projected to multiply port activities by tenfold, thus catalyzing economic activity and creating jobs throughout the region.

re essential for reducing costs and travel times, which are vital for trade and logistics.

The senior research fellow pointed out the necessity of reinforcing regional stability and security to foster collaboration in strategic areas with the Horn of Africa. She noted the region’s substantial agricultural potential and suggested investments in technology, machinery, and training to boost food production capabilities.

Additionally, Bakardzhieva remarked on the Gulf region’s interest in diversifying energy investments beyond oil and gas, especially in the UAE. This diversification aligns with opportunities for cooperation with the Horn of Africa, which holds potential for various investment ventures.

The senior research fellow concluded by acknowledging ongoing investments in port infrastructure and connectivity, which are crucial for Africa’s broader development.
