Ethiopia’s New Ambassador to Portugal Submits Credentials, Highlights Long-standing Diplomatic Ties

LISBON — In a formal ceremony, Ambassador Mahlet Hailu presented her credentials to Marcelo Rebelo De Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic, officially assuming her role as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Portugal, with residence in Paris. The event marks a continuing effort to strengthen a historic relationship spanning 500 years between Ethiopia and Portugal.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the bilateral relations have thrived on various fronts including investment, trade, culture, tourism, and people-to-people connections. During her meeting with Portuguese officials, Ambassador Hailu discussed ways to enhance these ties further, using her diplomatic appointment as a platform to foster greater collaboration between the two nations.
