Ethiopia’s Finance Ministry Engages with Development Partners on Climate Resilience


ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian Ministry of Finance conducted a meeting with heads of key development agencies to deliberate on climate change, food security, and resilience-building efforts within the nation. State Minister of Finance Semereta Sewasew led the discussions, highlighting the government’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and resilience-building programs aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity through sustainable and climate-resilient practices.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ambassador Shiferaw Teklemariam, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission, presented the current humanitarian needs and outlined the new Disaster Risk Management policy. The meeting underscored a significant resource gap in humanitarian assistance, discussing strategies to address food shortages and the importance of collective efforts to tackle the humanitarian crisis while building resilience. Co-chaired by Ramiz Alkabarov, United Nations Resident Coordinator, and Paul Walters, UK Development Director, the meeting saw participation from various international partners.
