Ethiopians Rally to Plant 600 Million Seedlings in One Day, Aiming to Forge a Sustainable Legacy

ADDIS ABABA - Today, Ethiopians across the country are participating in a massive tree-planting initiative, aiming to plant 600 million saplings by sunset. This nationwide effort, spearheaded by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, is intended to provide environmental, economic, and social benefits for future generations.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Selamawit Kassa, today's event is both historic and vital for securing a sustainable future. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has called on the citizens to unite under this cause, emphasizing that "when we come together, we can achieve more." He has specifically asked adults and teenagers to contribute by planting 20 and 10 trees respectively. The initiative is part of Ethiopia’s broader strategy to restore forest cover, combat climate change, ensure food security, and reduce poverty, significantly contributing to the nation’s green legacy.
