Ethiopian State Minister Lauds TOPPAN Holdings for Investment Commitments


ADDIS ABABA — During a recent visit to Japan, Ethiopian State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, expressed gratitude to TOPPAN Holdings for their commitment to investing in Ethiopia, particularly in printing and potential digital sectors.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ambassador Mesganu’s discussions with Kazunori Sakai, Executive Vice President and COO of Toppan Holdings, highlighted Ethiopia’s rich investment possibilities and the desire to explore new areas such as digitization, ICT, and packaging. The meeting, held prior to the TICAD ministerial gathering on August 23, 2024, underscored both parties’ eagerness to deepen technological and economic ties.



Kazunori Sakai conveyed his company’s readiness to utilize their expertise and technology to expand their investment footprint in Ethiopia. The dialogue also touched on possibilities in digitization and other related sectors, reflecting a mutual interest in leveraging technology for development.



In addition to visiting Toppan Holdings, Ambassador Mesganu met with Shoichi Kobayashi, chairman of the Japan Development Institute (JDI), where they discussed strengthening investment ties between Japan and Ethiopia. The State Minister emphasized Ethiopia’s robust macroeconomic reforms and the country’s commitment to supporting Japanese investments, particularly in the development of Special Economic Zones, leveraging JDI’s experience in Asia.



Kobayashi expressed a strong interest in Ethiopia’s economic landscape and praised the country’s ongoing reforms, suggesting a positive outlook for future collaborations between Japan and Ethiopia in economic and technological advancements.
