ADDIS ABABA: Innovators at the ‘Startup Ethiopia Exhibition’ are showcasing technologies aimed at enhancing Ethiopia’s agricultural productivity and competitiveness on the global stage.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the exhibition, which began this Monday at the Science Museum, includes startups presenting solutions to increase the value and marketability of agricultural products. Innovations on display include technologies that provide detailed information to buyers and increase the value of exports.
Mikiyas Estefanos introduced a technology called ‘tracing coffee’, which allows buyers to track the coffee production process, potentially increasing Ethiopian coffee’s competitiveness internationally. Another innovator, Anduamlak Mehariw, showcased technologies designed to improve the drying process for agricultural products like rosemary, turmeric, and coffee, aiming to enhance export earnings. Begashaw Mebirate, founder of “B-Farm Tech”, displayed a system that connects farmers with grain threshing services, contributing to the modernization of agriculture in Ethiopia.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until the end of its 21-day run, offering an opportunity for visitors to explore these innovations.
