Ethiopian Runners Dominate 2025 Xiamen Marathon

XIAMEN: Ethiopian athletes showcased outstanding performances at the 2025 Xiamen Marathon, securing top positions in both the men’s and women’s categories. Dawit Wolde led the men’s race with a remarkable finish time, while Ruti Aga triumphed in the women’s race with a commanding lead.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Dawit Wolde of Ethiopia claimed victory in the men’s marathon, completing the race in two hours, six minutes, and six seconds. He was closely followed by Tebello Ramakongoana from Lesotho, who finished in two hours, six minutes, and eighteen seconds. Asefa Boki Kebebe, also from Ethiopia, secured the third position with a time of two hours, six minutes, and thirty-two seconds.



In the women’s category, Ethiopia’s Ruti Aga emerged as the winner, completing the marathon in two hours, eighteen minutes, and forty-six seconds. Her compatriots, Gutemi Shone and Fikrte Wereta, finished in second and third places with times of two hours, twenty-three minutes, and eleven seconds, and two hours, twenty-three minutes, and fifteen seconds, respectively.



The results highlight Ethiopia’s strong presence in long-distance running, with athletes continuing to dominate international marathon competitions. The Xiamen Marathon, known for its scenic coastal route, attracted elite runners from around the world, further solidifying its status as a significant event in the global marathon calendar.
