Ethiopian Religious Leaders Advocate for Green Legacy as a National Tradition

ADDIS ABABA - Today, prominent religious figures in Ethiopia emphasized the importance of embedding the Green Legacy program into the nation’s cultural fabric during a one-day seedling planting event in Lemi Kura Sub-city, Addis Ababa. They advocated for the program’s continuation given its significant benefits to the country's environmental and societal health.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, participating in the Green Legacy program not only aids in nation-building but also enhances Ethiopia's international image. "Trees provide healthy and fresh air for the youth to study and for the elderly to gather," he explained. Sheikh Mohammed Awol highlighted the importance of focusing on indigenous plants for their medicinal value and urged widespread participation in the initiative. Pastor Abrham Beyene also spoke at the event, calling for intensified efforts to sustain the Green Legacy Initiative as it plays a critical role in mitigating the effects of climate change.
