ADDIS ABABA — In a significant step towards strengthening democracy in Ethiopia, political parties convened today for a forum to discuss the nation’s pressing issues and foster a collaborative democratic culture. The Joint Council of Political Parties highlighted these consultations as foundational for addressing Ethiopia’s challenges and building a resilient democratic system.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Chairperson of the Joint Council of Political Parties, the meeting included key political figures such as Ademe Farah, the Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of the Prosperity Party. Dinka emphasized the importance of nurturing a culture of dialogue to tackle national issues collectively. He praised the government’s openness to engage with political parties, urging them to seize this opportunity for constructive dialogue.
The forum focused on strategies for political parties to collaborate on common challenges. Dinka underscored the need for unity in confronting Ethiopia’s problems, aiming to achieve national goals crucial for the people and the country’s future generations. Meles Alemu, Head of the Democratic Culture Building Department at the Prosperity Party and an executive member of the Council, remarked on the consultation process as the beginning of a new political era. He pointed out the importance of dialogue in protecting national interests, addressing challenges, and preserving positive achievements, highlighting the Prosperity Party’s dedication to establishing a strong democratic framework.
