Ethiopian Political Council Praises Government’s Efforts in Fostering National Dialogue

ADDIS ABABA — The Political Parties Joint Council has recently praised the Ethiopian government’s initiative to engage with competing political parties, enhancing a collaborative approach to national issues.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Chairperson of the Political Parties Joint Council, the forum with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and chief administrators from regional states marks a significant shift from the country’s previous political challenges. Dinka highlighted the evolution of the political landscape, emphasizing the growing acceptance of a ‘give and take’ approach in political discussions, which fosters a culture of cooperation among political parties and national elites. “This change is encouraging practices and cultures of working together on national issues,” Dinka stated.

Dinka further emphasized that the council is dedicated to establishing a modern political culture that encourages resolving issues and differences through dialogue, thus building confidence among political entities. He commended the government’s ongoing efforts to engage actively with various political groups on pressing national, regional, continental, and global issues. These consultations are seen as pivotal in strengthening the democratic process within the country.

Moreover, the consultative processes led by Prime Minister Abiy are expected to play a crucial role in embedding a culture of discussion and cooperation among political parties, addressing key national concerns.
