ADDIS ABABA - The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission is currently engaging with key stakeholders in a critical session focused on the aggregation of topics for forthcoming national discussions. This gathering aims to establish a foundational framework for achieving a nationwide consensus on various pivotal issues.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, this recent assembly marks a significant phase in preparing for comprehensive national dialogues. It follows extensive preliminary activities, including the identification of participants from five regional states and two city administrations. The focus of today's session is on devising methodologies for amassing a broad array of potential dialogue themes from citizens across Ethiopia, employing diverse channels for input collection.

In his introductory address, the National Dialogue Chief Commissioner, Professor Mesfin Araya, underscored the commitment to fostering national unity through inclusive and constructive discourse. He emphasized the concerted efforts undertaken to facilitate a process wherein Ethiopians can address and reconcile their differences through dialogue. Furthermore, Professor Araya highlighted the successful identification of dialogue participants at the Woredas (district) level, illustrating the Commission's meticulous groundwork.

He also stressed that the National Dialogue Commission stands as a pivotal institution in the nation-building process, now transitioning into its operational phase. Professor Mesfin acknowledged the extensive collaboration and support from a spectrum of stakeholders, which has been crucial in actualizing the national dialogue initiative. Awareness-raising activities have also been conducted across various societal segments to foster a comprehensive understanding of the dialogue's objectives and processes.

Today's deliberations witness participation from an array of figures, including ministers, representatives from political parties, stakeholders from all regions, and members of civil society, all converging with the common aim of shaping a cohesive and inclusive dialogue framework for Ethiopia.
