Ethiopian Diasporas Encouraged to Enhance Development Participation in Afar Region

ADDIS ABABA — The Afar Regional State Diaspora Office has called on Ethiopian diasporas visiting the region to deepen their involvement in the development efforts of the Afar region. This call was made during a special visit and panel discussion held with members of the diaspora who are touring various factories and development projects in Semera, the capital of the Afar Regional State.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Head of the Afar Region Diaspora Office, the region is actively encouraging both the people of Afar and friends of the region to engage more robustly in its economic and social activities. The establishment of the Diaspora Office has been a strategic move to bolster diaspora participation in the region’s development.

Geas Ahmed emphasized that the primary goal of this inaugural visit and panel discussion program is to enhance the involvement of the diaspora in the region’s ongoing and future development projects. During their visit, the diaspora members will tour factories, observe the expanding wheat fields, and explore other significant development projects, including the Green Legacy initiative.

This engagement is seen as a vital step in harnessing the skills, resources, and networks of the Ethiopian diaspora to contribute to the sustainable development of the Afar region.
