ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian diaspora has been urged to intensify its contributions towards the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), a pivotal national project. During a meeting organized by the Ethiopian Diaspora Association, involving various government bodies, Aregawi Berhe, the Director General for the Office of National Coordination for the Construction of GERD, announced that the dam’s construction has surpassed 95 percent completion.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Berhe highlighted the significant role the diaspora has played in reaching key milestones of the GERD project through financial contributions, diplomatic support, and other means, and called for continued and strengthened support from Ethiopians living abroad.
