ADDIS ABABA: The Ethiopian Development Bank and KFW, a leading promotional bank based in Germany, have reached an agreement to enhance their cooperation across various financial domains. The agreement aims to bolster financial support and collaborative efforts between the two institutions.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the discussions took place early this morning between Emebet Melese, the newly appointed President of the Ethiopian Development Bank, and Marcus von Essen, the Head of Division for East Africa at the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The talks focused on exploring financial support avenues from KFW and strengthening the collaborative relationship between the two banks.

The meeting also included a review of two ongoing projects financed by KFW and implemented by the Ethiopian Development Bank. These projects focus on providing leasing services for machinery to advance the agricultural sector and facilitating financial support through microfinance institutions and
banks to aid small and medium enterprises.

The Ethiopian Development Bank noted in a social media post that discussions also touched upon future prospects to further consolidate the cooperation. Both parties are optimistic about the potential for expanding their partnership to include more comprehensive financial initiatives.
