Addis Ababa: Ethiopian and UK officials held discussions to strengthen cooperation in supporting Ethiopia’s economic reforms, with a focus on foreign exchange and investment improvements. Ethiopia's State Minister of Finance, Eyob Tekalgn, Ethiopian Investment Holdings CEO Brook Taye, and Ethiopian Capital Market Authority Director General Hana Teklu met with Nick Dyer, Permanent Under-Secretary at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), and British International Investment (BII) representatives.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Eyob briefed Dyer on Ethiopia’s ongoing reforms, designed to create a more favorable environment for foreign investment. He emphasized the government's commitment to addressing challenges in the investment climate and expressed gratitude for the UK's support throughout the reform process. Dyer acknowledged Ethiopia's ambitious economic goals and commended the government’s difficult but necessary decisions to implement these reforms. Both parties agreed that sustained cooperation is critical to achieving the long-term objectives of Ethiopia's reform initiatives.
Finance State Minister Eyob also engaged with BII to explore emerging investment opportunities and discuss the challenges faced by investors in Ethiopia. BII representatives praised Ethiopia’s recent reforms but highlighted areas where further support is needed to foster a conducive investment environment.
