Ethiopian Airlines Launches New Route to Dhaka, Enhancing Business Ties with Bangladesh.

Addis Ababa: Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline and a member of the Star Alliance, has officially begun its new five weekly flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh. According to Ethiopian News Agency, this commencement of flights is expected to boost investment and business cooperation between Ethiopia and Bangladesh, as highlighted by Bangladesh Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sikder Bodiruzzaman.

During the inaugural ceremony, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Commercial Officer, Lema Yadecha, remarked on the significance of this development for both countries, emphasizing the strengthened socio-economic cooperation it represents. The new route solidifies Ethiopian’s presence in South Asia, offering Bangladeshi travelers improved connectivity to over 140 destinations across Europe, North America, Africa, and other continents.

The flight schedule includes morning departures from Dhaka on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with evening departures on Mondays and Fridays. Ambassador Bodiruzzaman emphasized that this new s
ervice is a testament to the cooperation between the two nations and will serve as a gateway to enhancing business collaboration, investment opportunities, and economic growth.

The ambassador also noted the potential for deepening socio-cultural ties between the peoples of Ethiopia and Bangladesh. The airline’s strategic expansion into Dhaka complements its existing routes in South Asia, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Karachi.

With a fleet of 147 aircraft, Ethiopian Airlines ranks as Africa’s largest airline by passenger volume, destinations, fleet size, and revenue, and is the fourth-largest globally in terms of countries served. The new Dhaka route is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering growth by increasing trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the regions.
