According to Ethiopian News Agency, the event featured participation from Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew, President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council Haji Ibrahim Tofa, and various other dignitaries. The Iftar dinner aimed to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan, reflecting the airline’s respect for the Muslim faith and its broader goal of promoting intercultural dialogue. KISUMU – In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Kisii Boys and Kisumu Girls High Schools emerged as champions in the rugby category of the Nyanza Secondary Schools Games. The tournament, which saw intense competition among various schools, concluded with Kisii Boys narrowly defeating St Mary’s High School 8-5 to secure the boys’ rugby trophy.
According to Kenya News Agency, the final match, hosted at Kisumu Boys High School, was a testament to the players’ resilience and tactical prowess, particularly given the challenging weather conditions prevalent in the region. Kisii Boys’ captain, Morgan Ochiel, credited their success to a combination of prayer, hard work, and discipline, highlighting the team’s morale boost following their semifinal victory over Maseno High School.
The boys’ team is now setting its sights on the national championship, buoyed by their recent victory and the support from their community. Meanwhile, in the girls’ competition, Kisumu Girls High School showcased their dominance by defeating Koru Girls, advancing to compete against other regional champions in an upcoming tournament scheduled in Machakos.
The third-place match in the boys’ category saw Nyabondo Boys High School triumph over Maseno High School with a score of 19-5, rounding off the competition with strong performances from all teams involved.
